Similarly, in his book The Skill of Happiness, the Dalai Lama argues that people themselves create the conditions that sabotage joy and happiness. This is due to the mind’s tendency to negativity, emotional reactions, or an inability to appreciate and utilize internal resources.

Just as people have the power to cause their own suffering, they also have the ability to bring about joy. According to the Dalai Lama, the key to happiness is found inside. It includes attitudes and reactions in our daily lives.

Thus, the basic element in achieving happiness is motivation.

Ricard also believes that man has the ability to influence his own emotional state if he so desires; the emergence of a sense of happiness, joy, and contentment. But if our goal is altruistic and sincere, we are much more likely to fully enjoy each day and infect this with other people as well.

Michael Fordyce was one of the pioneers of positive psychology. Positive psychology is about methods and activities that aim to nurture positive emotions, actions, and cognitions.

He created a program called “The 14 Basic Principles of Happiness”. The goal of this program is for people to apply all the main features of happy people in their lives so that they themselves become happy.
