Effective oven cleaning methods

Keeping the oven clean is important. Food or fat residues often stick to the inside walls and glass of the oven. That is why they burn whenever you fry food and can be dangerous to your health.

So you should thoroughly clean these devices from time to time.

However, you should also consider the type of oven you are using so that you can choose the best method for cleaning it.

For example, there are some self-cleaning ovens. One of their features is the cleaning mode and you just need to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

However, not everyone has such an oven and you have to rub off all the dirt and grease that has stuck to the oven yourself.

So in this article, we want to tell you how to clean an oven, be it an electric, gas or microwave oven.

Our tips consist of natural products such as lemon, vinegar and baking soda. These natural products are very effective and the end result will be awesome!

Lemon

Cleaning the oven is never easy. Grease tends to stick everywhere, and we don’t have to tell you how difficult it is to remove, as you’re probably already aware of it.

However, this inherent ingredient does its job. The best part is that it is mild on the hands as well as environmentally friendly. That’s right – it’s a lemon!

  • First, chop the three lemons and squeeze their juice into an ovenproof container.
  • Then close the oven and heat it at 250 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • The lemon stain-removing properties are effective and you only need to wipe the inside walls of the oven with a damp cloth. However, be careful and wait until the oven cools down a bit.

Vinegar

Just like lemon, vinegar is also a natural stain remover and antibacterial agent.

  • Pour the vinegar into a clean spray bottle and spray it inside the oven. Be careful not to spray the heating systems.
  • Then preheat the oven at 120 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • Finally, remove the dirt with a cloth after the oven has cooled slightly so that you do not burn yourself.

Cleaning the oven with baking soda

Baking soda is also a good ingredient for cleaning the oven, especially if the oven is really dirty.

  • Mix baking soda with water to form a paste.
  • Then apply it to the interior walls (keep away from heating systems) and leave on for about two hours. Do not switch on the oven.
  • Finally, remove the paste and wipe with a damp cloth.

Microwave cleaning

The microwave is easily soiled. Liquid splashes actually make it one of the most demanding  household appliances.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to be difficult to clean properly if you follow these tips:

Water, vinegar and salt

  • First add 1.25 dl of water and 1.25 dl of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of salt to a micron-resistant container.
  • Cover the container with a lid with holes.
  • Place the dish in the microwave for maximum power for 5 minutes. The steam of the mixture removes dirt from the inner walls.
  • Leave the container inside the microwave and keep the door closed for another 10 minutes after it has been in the microwave for 5 minutes.
  • Finally, remove the container from the microwave and wipe the inside walls with a damp cloth.

Baking soda and vinegar

  • First mix 2.5 dl of water and 1 tablespoon of vinegar in a micron-resistant container.
  • Put it in the microwave at high power at 30 second intervals until all the liquid has evaporated.
  • When it evaporates, keep the door closed and let the steam do its job for 10 minutes.
  • Then remove the container from the microwave. Be careful as it may still be hot to touch with bare hands. Remove it from the microwave and spread baking soda with a wet sponge.
  • Finally, wipe the baking soda off the inside walls with a damp cloth.
